In some places, life faded out long ago, but now it's about to return. The vision is to bring back to life a medieval village destroyed by an earthquake at the end of the 1700s. Through virtual reality, users can travel through time across eras and cultures. They become firsthand witnesses to the most significant historical moments: from the founding to the subsequent military conquests of Rocca degli Armeni, through the daily life of merchants and farmers, and finally the earthquake and the abandonment of the village. In addition, through an augmented reality app, a treasure hunt for hidden artifacts gives the experience a playful spirit that actively involves visitors in the historical journey. Finally, a set of permanent video mapping installations brings lost frescoes back to life, making the night visit even more magical. All this was made possible thanks to a wonderful task force of historians, archaeologists, illustrators, developers, hardware technicians, modelers and 3D animators.
